What you need to know: • Kids are placed in foster care because for some reason, their parents are unable to take care of them. None of those reasons is the fault of the child. • There is nothing someone can do to cause their own abuse- violence is the fault of the abuser and the abuser alone. • Kids in foster care are just like everyone else, except when they go home every night, it's not to their biological parents' house. • Abuse can happen to anyone in any relationship- men can rape their wives, women can rape men, and younger people can rape older people.
How you can help someone else: • Tell them that you'll be there for them, and mean it. • Believe them. People rarely lie about abuse. • Tell them that if somebody hurt them, it's not their fault. • If you or a friend is in an abusive situation, contact Childhelp USA at 1-800-4-A-CHILD. |
