The President's Volunteer Service Award

THE WHITE HOUSE
WASHINGTON

Congratulations on receiving the President's Volunteer Service Award from the President's Council on Service and Civic Participation. Through service to others, you demonstrate the outstanding character of America and help strengthen our country.

In January 2002, I called on all Americans to dedicate at least two years - or 4,000 hours over the course of their lives to serve others at home or abroad. I congratulate you and all Americans who have answered this call and have earned a Gold Award from the President's Council. Americans of all ages can serve others in countless ways, such as mentoring a child, caring for an elderly neighbor, teaching someone to read, cleaning parks, and creating safer neighborhoods.

My Administration encourages every American to help their communities and our country. Through the USA Freedom Corps and the President's Council, we are building a culture of service, citizenship, and responsibility in America that will last for decades to come. Americans continue to serve and are part of the gathering momentum of millions of acts of kindness and decency that are changing America, one heart and one soul at a time. Your actions are part of this change. I urge you to continue serving your neighbors and earn the Lifetime Call to Service Award. I also hope that you will ask your friends, family, and colleagues to join you in serving your community and our Nation.

May God bless you, and may God continue to bless America.

Sincerely,
George W. Bush

Dear Miss Feldman:

Congratulations! You have won the first annual national Alexander Hamilton Citizenship Achievement Award. Your selection came after an exhaustive search by our staff involving schools in every state and the District of Columbia, and scores of potential winners.

Alexander Hamilton was passionate about his life, integrity, and work. He had a vision for America's future that permeated everything he did, giving his life and work a clarity few achieved in his day. We found many deserving young people, but those whose achievements, like Hamilton, fit a broader vision impressed us most. To us you were in this category. We feel you have the capacity in the coming years to preserve Hamilton's legacy, energize those around you, and help create a better world. All you have to do is follow the path you have chosen, and continue to think big!

Your award consists of four elements: Basic Award Package; Alexander Hamilton the biography by Ron Chernow; award posting on our website; and news releases.

The Basic Award Package consists of a letter to your principal, this congratulatory letter, a check for $100, a fresh new ten dollar bill, the award certificate, and award proclamation.

The book Alexander Hamilton by Ron Chernow will contain a personalized bookplate signed by Mr. Chernow. Mr. Chernow will be signing all bookplates on about May 20th. You will receive your volume around Memorial Day.

Prior to the debut of our website in early June, a Hamilton Friends volunteer will call you to review website and news release content. We also want to know your local media preferences. If there is any erroneous or misspelled information on the proclamation or certificate, let us know and we will replace either or both with corrected copies.

The youth of America have energy, integrity, and vision far in advance of their years. This was true in Hamilton's day; this is true today. You are a living testament to this truth. Congratulations again on winning this award.

The Attorney General's Triple "C" Award

Dear Mr. & Mrs. Feldman:

I recently had the privilege of honoring Samantha with the Attorney General's Triple "C" award, for "Character, Courage and Commitment." This award recognizes the hard work, effort and determination that exceptional students put into developing their minds and characters.

I strongly believe that by giving our children encouragement and praise, we help them to succeed. I have benefitted greatly from the support I was fortunate enough to receive from my parents, educators and others whom I admired. This recognition developed my enthusiasm for learning and fueled my desire to work hard, study and. achieve. As an adult, it is now my responsibility to return the support I was so lucky to receive as a child.

I admire all of our Triple "C" winners for their enthusiasm and willingness to work hard to reach their goals. These qualities will help them achieve whatever they put their mind to in the future. As a guiding force in your child's life, you deserve recognition as well. The support, encouragement and challenges that you have provided over the years are to be commended. And, as Samantha continues to grow, learn and experience life, your support and encouragement will be more important than ever.

Once again, congratulations to Samantha and to you. I wish you and your entire family much continued success in all your future endeavors.

Sincerely
Eliot Spitizer
